Description

The armor is finished!!! [And no, we ended up not using Friendly Plastic because we opted instead on another alternative.]

The Process: First off I give first and foremost credit to my father. Whom without his guidance and extensive knowledge of tools and crafting probably wouldn't have been possible to make. A lot of armor making tutorials suggested a more complicated route, which warrants at least respect, considering you get more accurate results. But since alas I was still working with a budget we did what we could. A lot of armor crafters suggested Wonderflex plastic sheeting with Friendly Plastic molded ontop of it to give it a finished look. But the Wonderflex itself is pretty expensive so we avoided that route.

My father found some solid black polyethylene plastic sheeting to work with instead for 12$ which worked great for manipulating with a heat gun.

After he manipulated the pieces I then hotglued the details onto the plates and painted over them. My dad riveted the leather to the plates so now it's one solid piece [there's some velcro on the sides though so I can navigate this on me slightly easier though.]

It was a fun process, I was pretty out of it considering most of the time I was helping work on this I was so tired I pretty much was on auto pilot.

The other shoulder doesn't have a shoulder plate, because that piece will be hidden by a cloak anyway, so it won't matter. Unfortunately the adjustability of the shoulders are nil though, since they'd been riveted into place, so the breast plate sits lower than it should.

When the gauntlets arrive I plan to mold the vambrace with the Insta-Morph!

I'm going to do something about that leather beneath so it doesn't look so tacky.

I only put on the top half of my cosplay for this picture, because the bottom is being adjusted and sewn.
